Shawn C. Coon, age 35 of Louisville, Ohio, passed away at Aultman Hospital on Saturday, October 7, 2023, following a catastrophic brain hemorrhage. Born at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, on September 29, 1988, to his very loving parents, Steve and Jenny Coon of Louisville. Shawn was a 2007 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio University, where he was a proud Bobcat. Upon college graduation, he joined his parents’ family business at Coon Restoration & Sealants Inc., along with his siblings and key team members, to help grow the business to the national level it is today. Shawn was the Vice President of Coon Restoration and also played a primary role in the development of specialty projects throughout the Midwest. While Shawn was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed snow skiing, his proudest moments and favorite title was that of dad to his two sons, Brantley & Carter. He also adored his German Shepherd, Beretta. Shawn was the most incredible husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had an infectious smile that could light up a room and a charismatic personality to everyone who knew him. Shawn’s ideal weekend was cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns with a glass of whiskey in hand. With his technical savviness, Shawn was also the IT man of the family and “the glue” that held many of his friendships together. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Shawn is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Norbert and Mary (Frank) Michel.
Beside his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Lynae (Gieseman) Coon and two handsome boys, Brantley and Carter Coon; three siblings, Josh Coon, Chad (Jennifer) Coon, and Danielle (Joe) Russo, all of Louisville. Paternal grandparents, George Sr. (Linda) Coon of Louisville. Father and mother-in-law, Mike (Kim) Gieseman of Louisville. Sister and brother-in-law, Morgan (Robbie) Maylor of Louisville. Eight nieces and nephews, Brayden, Taylor, Hunter, and Emma Coon, Riley, Maddie, and Leo Russo and Hazel Maylor. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins as well.
Shawn always had a giving spirit and would help anyone in need, even after his sudden passing he was able to help others by donating his vital organs through LifeBanc. The family would like to give a heart-felt thank you to the professional staff at Aultman Hospital and for the extraordinary care Shawn received in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The family would also like to recognize the outpouring of love and support from the many friends, family members and even total strangers during Shawn’s hospitalization.
