Joyce Ring

June 14, 1930 — July 2, 2021

Joyce Ring, 91, has moved to the Lord’s hands this day of July 2nd, 2021. Joyce (Maynor) Ring was born June 14th, 1930 in Maynor, West Virginia: daughter of Ernest and Alice Griffith Maynor. She married Woodrow Ring December 31st, 1946, where they lived in Raleigh County, WV, eventually moving to Ohio, where they raised 6 wonderful boys. In addition to making a home of 60 years with Woody, together they owned and managed two nursing homes in Ohio.  Joyce became a licensed nurse and worked in the nursing field for over 30 years and loved caring for people; she received many awards for her work. On June 11th, 2005, Joyce filled one of her long dreams by taking a balloon ride over Louisville Ohio as a 75th
birthday gift from her sons.

Joyce loved gardening and could not wait till the first red tomatoes of the season came in. Writing was passion of hers and always gave her great pleasure. Joyce received “Certificate of Achievement in Poetry” from Eber and Wein Publishing, having several of her poems published in books. She was awarded “Editor’s Choice Award” from Poetry.com for “Outstanding Achievement in Poetry.” She decided to return to college becoming one of the oldest persons going to Stark State College to further her own education.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Woody (February 24th, 2006); and her son, Jerry Ring (August 31st, 1997).

Joyce loved and was blessed with a large family and is survived by her five children, Larry (Scarlet Wise) of Canton, OH, Roger M. (Wanda) Ring of Canton, OH, Richard S. (Nancy) Ring of Charles Town, WV, Darryl E. Ring of Shepherdstown, WV, and David A. (Suzy) Ring of Oahu Hawaii; brother, Gary Maynor; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Mona, Felicia, Tyler, Christina, Thomas, Jennifer, Richie, Debbie, and Michael Paul; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and relatives.

Joyce has been a long member of Canton Baptist Temple she loved to attend and socialize with her many lifelong friends from the Church.

Friends and family are welcome to come to calling hours on July 10th, 2021 from 11a.m.-12p.m. at Canton Baptist Church: 515 Whipple Ave. NW, Canton, OH. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12p.m. Internment will directly proceed services at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The Family would like to express thanks to Heritage Villas Senior Living Nursing Home and Hospice for the excellent and caring service given to Joyce.
