Joseph William Stowell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully in his home in Louisville on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was 88.

Known as Bill to many of his friends and family, he was born on February 9, 1937, to Patrick and Lottie Mae Stowell in Piedmont, WV. He served his country with pride in the United States Navy and thrived as a Navy Recruiter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

A true silver-tongued devil, Bill had a way with words that could charm and entertain. His quick wit and one-liners could light up any room, turning even the most ordinary moments into something to be remembered. Whether it was a tall tale from his Navy days, or a joke delivered with perfect timing, he had the rare gift of making people smile.

Though his journey on this earth has come to an end, his legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marguerite Ann Stowell, of Louisville; his four children: Kimberly (Paul) Downing, Diane (Louis) Gusbar, Linda (Mike) Wardle of North Canton, and Bill Stowell of Washington, DC; his sister, Genie (Jim) Mc Million of Cumberland, MD; his ten grandchildren: Christopher, Veronica, Nicholas, Lindsay, Ashley, Louis, Brandon, Courtney, Connor, and Tyler; and several great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called him "Pap."

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, 303 South Chapel Street, Louisville, OH 44641. Burial will take place in Westernport, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the US Department of Veterans Affairs or Aultman Hospice and Compassionate Care Center. Condolences and special memories of Bill can be shared with his family online at www.paqueletfalk.com
