Jerry Patrick Michna passed away on January 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He battled significant medical challenges for nearly 25 years. He was born March 17, 1947 in Indiana, PA to the late John and Ann Michna. He worked as a Teacher, Coach and Development Director for St. Thomas Aquinas High School for 26 years. While teaching at St. Thomas, he met another business teacher, Marianne Fredrick who he married June 21, 1980.
While coaching at St. Thomas, he led teams to win three state Cross Country Championships in 1976, 1980, and 1981. His track team won 58 consecutive track meets. He spent countless hours fundraising for St. Thomas, St. Louis and other non-profit organizations. Jerry was inducted into the St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Hall of fame in 2005. After retiring from St. Thomas in 1995, he became a Financial Advisor and coached investors until 2023.
Jerry was very proud of his children and grandchildren and took great joy in watching them swim in his backyard pool. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a Pittsburgh Pirates season ticket holder. True to his Slovak heritage, he enjoyed polka music and pierogis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ann Michna, his in-laws, Delbert and Vivian Fredrick and brother-in-law, Konrad Heuvers.
Jerry will be missed by his wife, Marianne; one daughter, Lisa (Adam) Feldhaus; two sons, Brian (KC) Michna and Anthony Michna; five grandchildren, Xahria Michna, JT Feldhaus, Margaret, Emmalynn & Marcus Michna; sister, Barbara Heuvers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Liz Fredrick; three nephews, one niece, two great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, January 29 from 5-8PM at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 30 at 5:30PM at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville.
A Celebration of Life will held Friday, January 31 from 5-7PM at American Legion 548 (925 W St Louis Ct; Louisville, OH) Jerry loved juke box Fridays and he’d love for everyone to come celebrate.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Nimishillen Township Firefighters Association for Christmas gifts for children who have experienced tragedy.
