
Gerald Joseph Blocher, born 3/27/1932 in Canton, OH. He died peacefully at The Gables 6/2/2021 in Canton, OH.
Gerald “Jerry” graduated from Lehman High School. He was a 2 yr. Army veteran of the Korean War and in the Reserves for 4 years. Jerry was a plumber by trade and a member of UAW Local 94 Plumbers & Pipefitters. Jerry retired from the Ford Motor Plant in Walton Hills. On 11/6/1971 he married M. Jean McCallin and were together for 40 years.
Jerry had many interests among them boating, water and snow skiing especially passing on his love of water skiing to friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, going to car shows, and playing poker with the Blocher family. He and Jeannie enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, travelling, and dancing at the various local clubs. He built his own cabin at Berlin Lake which he took great pride in.
Jerry was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Canton and presently at St. Joseph’s Church in Alliance.
Survivors include siblings Joann (Harold) King and David (Carol) Blocher, son Ted (Theresa) Blocher, and special dog Suzi. Many nieces and nephews from both the Blocher and McCallin sides. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Jeannie; parents Lawrence and Lidwina Blocher; brother Lawrence and Ann Blocher, sister Genevieve and Don Meier; Harold King, and Kenneth King.
A special thanks to Julie McGuire, Nellie Sutter, Julie Anderson, and Meri Hinkle. Without their special care over the last 9 plus years, Jerry would not have been able to stay in his home.
Family will receive visitors from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on June 5 at St. Joseph’s Church, 427 E. Broadway, Alliance, OH. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with the Very Rev. Canon Matthew Mankowski presiding.
