The Burns family is sad to announce the passing of Edna Marie Burns, who died Thursday, February 8 of a brief illness. She was 97.
Edna was born in 1926 in Marlboro Township, Stark County, Ohio, and grew up on a farm there. She also worked as a waitress for many years. In 1948, she married Richard Burns and they had three children. They also had numerous animal friends, including ponies, which they raised and showed at the local fairs and animal shows. Edna also enjoyed flying with Richard in their Bellanca airplane, visiting her many siblings, and vacationing in Florida and Myrtle Beach.
In her later years, Edna moved permanently to Port Charlotte, Florida, with her daughter, Ann. Ann and grandson Jason Burns helped her live her best Florida life – beach visits, resting on the lanai, loving her dogs, listening to bands, eating delicious food, and playing countless rounds of Euchre and Cornhole.
Edna packed many adventures into her many wonderful years, and she leaves behind a large and amazing legacy. She is survived by her three children – Daryl (Ginger) Burns, Garry (Liz) Burns, and Ann McMichael. She is also survived by her brother Alfred Haidet – along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Burns, and siblings Agnes Bishop, Mildred Violand, and Bernard Haidet.
A visitation will be held on May 21, 2024 at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville, Ohio at 10:00 a.m. A service will follow at 11:00 with burial in St. Louis Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family online at
